Five things I'm loooving about this week...

1. My cousin sent me this link for crocheted baskets earlier this week and now I'm obsessed with making them. I will definitely be getting some twine at Michael's this weekend to try out more!

2. The kids were off from camp this week so we finally got to make our tie dye shirts!

3. Yes, I watched this. And got really excited when Prince William loaded up the babes himself then drove them away. It takes me back to those days when I was slightly in love with him.

4. Amy helped me get started on the koozies for Clay's party. 1/3 of the way done with 23 koozies. Yikes!

5. I made the kids brownies on Monday. I had to hide them from myself the kids. I think I ate enough "slivers" to equal about 5 brownies.

And since you've all been so good this week, here's a treat for you:

Ahh! He's too much. Really.

A look back

Here ye! Here ye! I'm starting a new tradition in my little corner of blogland today! On the last Thursday of each month I'm going to share with you my favorite pictures from that month for the past few years. Here we go...

[caption id="" width="500" align="aligncenter" caption="Clay's first trip to the beach!"][/caption][caption id="" width="500" align="aligncenter" caption="I really really like the Olympics..."][/caption][caption id="" width="500" align="aligncenter" caption="Photo booth time with Amy"][/caption][caption id="" width="500" align="aligncenter" caption="After Lizbeth's wedding"][/caption][caption id="" width="500" align="aligncenter" caption="With Brayden and little Cade"][/caption][caption id="" width="500" align="aligncenter" caption="I went through a phase where I would only wear basketball shorts..."][/caption][caption id="" width="500" align="aligncenter" caption="I think we were excited about the sno cones we were about to enjoy."][/caption][caption id="" width="500" align="aligncenter" caption="Our tour guide's name was bunny....because she was born on Easter morning. I kid you not."][/caption]

I have had so much fun looking back at all of these pictures! I can't wait to do this again in August!

P.S. Does everyone else's family take as many pictures as mine??

P.P.S. I haven't taken a picture of Clay since Sunday. My family might hunt me down and kill me for this so if you don't hear from me on Friday, that's what happened.

Dear future girlfriend,

Welcome to a new edition of

If you're new around here, every so often I take a post to share all of Clay's bloopers and funny pictures from my phone and camera in a post called Dear Future Girlfriend. You better bet I'll be pulling these out to show a girlfriend one day and hopefully Clay won't hate me too much for these when he's older. ;)

Somebody is almost one...

I can't believe Clay's first birthday has snuck up on me! I have a little over a month to get everything done. Eeeek! I picked out the theme (football!) in January but haven't done much since then except pin a few things on Pinterest.

Originally I was going to do a baby divided theme (Steelers and Cowboys) but then I happened upon this pin:

Ahh! So in love! So now his party is going to be a football tailgating party and I am so excited! I already started working on the koozies for favors this past weekend. They need a little work but I'm liking them.

I've also painted the cans (I knew I kept those formula cans for a reason...) to hold the utensils.

I'm planning to put 12 footballs on the banner and put Clay's monthly pictures on them and hang it behind the table. Other than that the only other decoration I'm doing is a photo booth backdrop.

We're going to keep the menu pretty simple:

  • Hot dogs

  • Wings

  • Chips & dip

  • Corn on the cob

  • Fruit

  • Cupcakes & cookies

Easy peasy. Hopefully.

There are a bunch of other details in the works that I'll keep you updated on as they get finalized!

Did any moms out there use evites? Thoughts?

The invitations I love on etsy aren't available anymore.

Did you plan a big bash for your little one's first or keep in simple?

We're just having Grandma (his only other family in Charlotte) and our close friends...probably around 15-20.

Thoughts on making an Amazon Wishlist?

I've had several people ask what I wanted Clay to have and thought this might be easier.

H54F. A day late.

It's perfectly acceptable to post for High Five for Friday a day late after taking 10 days off from blogging, right? Right.

So here we gooooooo:

1. My wonderful friend Liz is letting me make her gender reveal cupcakes at the end of this month. I am SO excited. Except for the whole keeping it a secret from Wednesday until Saturday thing. Clay really wants it to be a girl (or I just want a chance to buy little girl dresses).

2. I officially (I've had the theme picked out since January) started the first birthday party planning. Here's a little sneak peek at the party favors:

3. On Wednesdays I coach soccer at a developmental daycare. I just love working with these kids so much. Sometimes it can be a little nerve wracking but when I saw a girl with Down Syndrome finally get up this week and start kicking the soccer ball after four weeks of watching and refusing to play it made it all worth it.

4. Clay and I take selfies on my phone quite a bit and I'm kinda okay with that.

5. Hi, my name is Jessica and I am addicted to Netflix. No, seriously, it's bad. I have it on while I'm working and most of the time after Clay goes to bed at night (what else am I supposed to do while I'm washing a million bottles and folding laundry??). Recent favorites that you should probably check out: White Collar, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Arrested Development, and Damages.

What every little boy needs...

I was a little upset about not having a little girl to dress up when I found out Clay was a little boy...then I realized I could still have lots of fun with a boy! One day I'll get around to doing a "favorite outfits" post; but for now here are a few staples from Clay's closet:

Linking up with Trendy Tot Tuesday! Take some time to go check out all the adorable kiddos!

We made it to 10 months!

Major mommy fail...

So Clay's 10 month pictures didn't get taken on the date (28th) because I forgot, and forgot again...and forgot again. I finally remembered to do them on the 2nd...right before bedtime. So we got some of this...

and this...

and this...

and my favorite...

Then I finally got this red eyed filled one...

It's a winner! We'll take it!

Currently...

Clay's favorite toys are his drum, guitar, and piano. And he loves his stuffed animals!

Clay's diaper size is a size 3.

Clay's favorite foods are it depends on what day it is... but toast with jelly, eggs, and bananas are usually always winners.

Clay's clothing size is...oh, who knows? Haha. He can still fit in his 3 month onesies but we've got a few 12 month clothes in the rotation also. The other day I looked at his pants and they looked strangely like "manpris" so I checked the tag (his dad had dressed him) and he was sporting some 0-3 pants.

Clay's newest "tricks" are squealing, laughing hysterically at everything, trying to climb on everything, shaking his head "no."

Clay weight and height are: we didn't measure this month but I'm gonna guess 19ish pounds and 30ish inches.

A look back:
